On A Music Rut

Tue, July 29, 2008 - 7:21 PM PST

I've been in a music rut for a few months, but I did buy some new music recently.

A friend at work reminded me how great Wolf Parade is, and so I bought their first album as well as their new one. I had heard the first disc a few times before and knew I liked it but hadn't listened to Mount Zoomer yet; I have now and it's good enough that I didn't listen to anything else for at least a week.

The same friend also recommended Fleet Foxes, so I bought that album last weekend. It totally lived up to the hype. Really, really good stuff, and local to Seattle. You should probably own this one.

Speaking of local bands... I'm just way too used to getting up early because Linda and I went to a bar a few weeks ago to hear some live music and we had to leave before the headliner even came on because I was falling asleep. It wasn't that the music was bad - I was just tired at midnight!

Oh, I also picked up the newest Death Cab For Cutie album when I saw it used for $8 already. I don't like it as much as some Plans or Transatlanticism, but it's OK.

I think that's about it for new music in the past few months.
